Kyla Harvey
With 14+ years in nonprofit leadership, program development, and community engagement, Kyla is dedicated to empowering women and creating change. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). A Temple University graduate, she has led impactful programs that align with BraveWorks' mission. Kyla cherishes life with her husband, four children, grandchildren, and loyal dog and is excited to lead BraveWorks.

Lauren Smith
Lauren joined Braveworks after serving in the mental and behavioral health field for 10 years. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist she brings a special skill set to the program and the women we serve. Lauren desires to come alongside the artisans to further empower, strengthen, and help transform them from the inside out, and we are thrilled to have her on our team!
Development Director
Jacquelyn Groenewald
Jacquelyn serves as Development Director at BraveWorks, leading fundraising, partnerships and strategic growth to support women overcoming adversity. With over six years in nonprofit development and advocacy, she has worked with survivors of human trafficking and veterans, connecting them to resources that foster healing and stability. Grounded in her faith, Jacquelyn is passionate about advancing BraveWorks' mission and empowering women to thrive beyond adversity.
Program Assistant
Brooke Slone
Brooke is a dedicated advocate for women's empowerment and holistic well-being. She earned her BA in Psychology and Women's and Gender Studies. She is currently completing her MA in Social Work. Brook brings experience in community health, gender-focused research, and supporting individuals through emotional and behavioral challenges. She is passionate about helping women feel confident, supported, and seen. She is grateful to contribute to BraveWorks' mission to empower women.
Marketing and Communications Manager
Aliyah Bradley
Aliyah is a Charlotte newcomer and has recently joined our team! She has her B.A in Fine Art. For the last 3 years she has taught English, art and more to children in the US and in China. Since arriving in Charlotte, she has hoped for a unique opportunity to use her creativity and make a worthwhile impact on others. She is thrilled to do just that at BraveWorks.
LEAD ARTISAN
Kidist Tesema
Kidist is originally from Ethiopia and embodies a Proverbs 31 woman in every way. Her optimism, diligence, and incredible work ethic make her an amazing leader. When she’s not busy guiding our artisans through our programming, Kidist enjoys sewing, taking her beautiful family on walks, and hosting family nights complete with delicious food and movie watching.
