      Executive Director

      Kyla Harvey

      With 14+ years in nonprofit leadership, program development, and community engagement, Kyla is dedicated to empowering women and creating change. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). A Temple University graduate, she has led impactful programs that align with BraveWorks' mission. Kyla cherishes life with her husband, four children, granddaughter, and loyal dog and is excited to lead BraveWorks.

      Program Coordinator

      Aliyah Bradley

      Aliyah is a Charlotte newcomer and has recently joined our team! She has her B.A in Fine Art. For the last 3 years she has taught English, art and more to children in the US and in China. Since arriving in Charlotte, she has hoped for a unique opportunity to use her creativity and make a worthwhile impact on others. She is thrilled to do just that at BraveWorks.

      DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

      Anne Bridgeman

      As our Development Manager, Anne supports both our event planning and volunteer engagement, among other things! Anne brings over 25 years in Business Development and Advancement in the non-profit sector to our team. Ā Her Passion is connecting people to one another and to their areas of interest, so they can contribute to their community and feel fulfilled.Ā 

      Artisan Translator

      Diyana Faizmand

      Diyana is an immigrant from Afghanistan, she came to United States 14 years ago. She is serving as a translator and now she is in Phase 2 of our artisan program which is to help deepen artisan’s work-force development skills.Ā Diyana speaks four languages (Dari, Russian, Spanish, and English). She is vibrant, personable, and has a desire to learn and try new things.

      Global Buyer / Design Coordinator

      Amy Dokken

      Amy brings a unique blend of creativity, product development expertise, & a passion for design to the team. She has over 25 years as a creative director & product designer. Her career has taken her across the globe, collaborating with large retailers to develop award-winning designs. In addition to her professional work, Amy is a visual artist, creating bold, colorful designs that explore themes of empowerment, connection, and transformation.

      Jewelry Designer

      Mary Liz McDowell

      It was a passion for fashion and experience in textile and apparel design that led Mary Liz to NYC and the world of fine jewelry. After her time spent there, she discovered her passion for colored stones. Mary Liz met her husband, Raj, in California at the Gemological Institute of America. Mary Liz loves meeting new people, traveling, and hanging with family, especially their daughters, Isabel and Mary Alice.

      Finance & Culture Director

      Tricia Sistrunk

      Tricia is a passionate community leader. She started her career as a prosecutor, then a corporate and litigation attorney. She later served as the Executive Director for The Lunch Project (now Thrive Global Project), a nonprofit serving communities in Tanzania. Tricia received her undergraduate degree in Finance from Ohio State University and her law degree from Wake Forest. Ā She is excited to be a part of Braveworks' mission!

      Program Director

      Lauren Smith

      Lauren joined Braveworks after serving in the mental and behavioral health field for 10 years. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist she brings a special skill set to the program and the women we serve. Lauren desires to come alongside the artisans to further empower, strengthen, and help transform them from the inside out, and we are thrilled to have her on our team!

      Operations Director

      Lori Terrell

      Lori serves as the Operations Director for BraveWorks, overseeing all operational aspects of our mission. Ā Lori brings an extensive background in retail encompassing operations and staff management coupled with personal and commercial styling. Ā At BraveWorks, Lori is excited to fulfill her dream of joining an organization that strives to have an impact on those they serve. Ā She considers herself fortunate to be part of BraveWorks' empowering mission!

      Lead Artisan

      Kidist Tesema

      Kidist is originally from Ethiopia and embodies a Proverbs 31 woman in every way. Her optimism, diligence, and incredible work ethic make her an amazing leader.Ā When she’s not busy guiding our artisans through our programming, Kidist enjoys sewing, taking her beautiful family on walks, and hosting family nights complete with delicious food and movie watching.Ā 

      Artisan Production Supervisor

      Roxanne Sandlin

      Roxanne is a NC Native. She brings her positive energy, teaching background and creativity to the BraveWorks Dream Team. Roxanne is inspired by the mission here at BraveWorks to empower women and is dedicated to changing & transforming lives, one piece of jewelry at a time. Outside of BraveWorks she enjoys health & fitness, traveling, animals, city walks, spending time with family, and trying new places & foodie spots.

      Engagement & Retail Administrator

      Sophie Kringle

      Sophie is the Engagement & Retail Administrator at BraveWorks, supporting daily operations, volunteer engagement, artisan programs, and the retail shop. With a background in ministry and event planning, she’s passionate about building community and empowering women through meaningful work. Outside of BraveWorks, Sophie enjoys time with family and friends, visiting local coffee shops, cooking, baking, and serving in her church community.

      Translator

      Fadia Seddik

      Fadia Seddik, originally from Syria, taught French to 8th-10th graders for six years. After fleeing to Saudi Arabia, she spent five years tutoring elementary students in Arabic and math. After moving to the U.S. in 2022, she joined ESL classes at CPCC and later became a BraveWorks artisan. Now a staff Arabic translator, Fadia enjoys staying active, playing with her kids, and spending time with friends.

      Translator

      Mariam

      Mariam, originally from Afghanistan, was an OBGYN, youth health counselor, ESL teacher, and AFGA board member in her home country. She fled to the U.S. in 2022 and graduated from BraveWorks that same year. Now a youth specialist, she also translates for women in our artisan program. Mariam enjoys designing jewelry, knitting, sewing, and empowering women. BraveWorks is her favorite place to help women from diverse backgrounds.
